Two minor boys went missing while bathing in the Kathajodi River near Khannagar in Odisha's Cuttack on Sunday morning. The incident occurred at around 8.30 am and has raised concern among locals as rescue operations continued at the time of reporting.

According to reports, the missing boys are residents of the Bhagatpur area. They had gone to the river after attending a kirtan and later played cricket nearby. When the ball fell into the water, two of the boys entered the river to retrieve it but got trapped in the sand and went missing.

Following the incident, locals alerted the police and the Fire Department. Two teams from the Fire Services reached the spot and launched a search operation to trace the missing boys.

Rescue Operation Underway

According to reports, the search was carried out using boats and scuba diving teams. Personnel from both the Fire Department and local police were present at the site, taking all necessary steps to locate the missing minors. At the time of reporting, the search operation was still ongoing.

Locals Recall The Incident

A resident from Bhagatpur said, “The boys went to bathe in the river after kirtan and played cricket. When the ball fell into the water, one boy went in to fetch it and called for help. The other went in to rescue him, but both disappeared in the water.”

Reports indicate that the water level was quite deep in the area where the boys had gone to bathe.
