Accused From Haryana

Officials said the two accused hail from Haryana and were allegedly attempting to transport ganja from Odisha’s Ganjam district to Haryana using train services. Investigators believe the suspects were using a major railway route to smuggle the contraband, a method commonly adopted by traffickers to evade detection.

RPF Statement

An RPF official involved in the operation said the suspects’ behaviour initially appeared suspicious. “The two individuals were sitting at the station and aroused suspicion. Our K-9 squad dog pointed towards them, following which a search was conducted and ganja was recovered,” the official said.

The official added that such inspections are conducted regularly, particularly when trains operating on major routes arrive at the station.

Ongoing Vigilance Against Smuggling

The RPF said routine checks with sniffer dogs are part of its ongoing efforts to curb the smuggling of contraband through the railway network. Further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused are part of a larger interstate smuggling racket.
