As the New Year begins on Thursday, the Twin City Commissionerate Police in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar outlined its priorities for 2026, pledging greater vigilance to ensure public safety. The focus will be on cybercrime, technology-driven policing, and maintaining a people-friendly approach to law enforcement.

According to official sources, a key area of attention will be women’s safety, with the police committing to proactive measures to protect and support women across the twin cities. The Commissionerate Police has also set its sights on tackling organised crime, drug trafficking, and illegal arms trade, aiming to root out criminal networks and maintain law and order.
Through these initiatives, the police plan to strengthen public trust, enhance operational efficiency, and make the community feel safer while embracing modern policing methods.
When contacted, Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena said, “We always strive to ensure that people celebrate smoothly during festive seasons. The same was even in our focus today. For this, we have deployed 17 platoons of police forces at 50 different strategic locations in Bhubaneswar. Naka checking is also underway at 25 places.”
“We have deployed additional forces at 30 more places to keep the cities under an overall security blanket. Now, people are returning home after completing their celebrations. Naka will be strengthened in the days ahead, so that we will be able to check the drunkards and anti-socials. Technology-based surveillance will be given priority,” the senior cop stated.
“We will carry out community-bonding-based policing in the future. Moreover, to ensure women's safety, we are focusing on the prevention of crime,” the DCP expressed.
