Tension flared at Bolagarh Block on Wednesday after a group of elected public representatives allegedly vandalised the official vehicle of the Block Development Officer (BDO), Suman Sudha Kundu. The incident occurred amid an ongoing protest that has continued for the past 10 days, with the agitators demanding her immediate transfer.
According to reports, the situation turned volatile when the protesting representatives attempted to forcibly enter the block office premises. As the crowd gathered and slogans intensified, police personnel deployed at the scene intervened to prevent further escalation. In the process, a scuffle broke out between the protesters and the police, leading to a chaotic pushing and shoving incident. Despite efforts by law enforcement to bring the situation under control, tensions spiralled, and the agitators allegedly vandalised the BDO’s official vehicle parked on the premises.
Sources said the protest was triggered by allegations that the BDO remained absent during the block-level Republic Day celebrations and did not cooperate in the smooth conduct of the programme. Additionally, some elected representatives accused her of neglecting public grievances and failing to maintain proper coordination with them on developmental matters.
