Trailer hits statue of former minister Ghasiram Majhi in Nuapada; driver detained

Nuapada: A statue of former minister Ghasiram Majhi was damaged after a trailer allegedly lost control and collided with the monument at Ekta Chowk in Nuapada headquarters on Monday.

According to reports, the speeding trailer struck the statue, causing it to fall and break into pieces. Visuals from the site showed the statue lying on the ground in a damaged condition, triggering anger among local residents.

Police from Nuapada reached the spot soon after the incident. The trailer has been seized, and the driver has been detained for questioning. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident and examining whether negligence was involved.

Officials stated that appropriate legal action will be taken if the driver is found responsible. Security has been intensified in the area as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incidents.
