Tragic road accident claims life of Rayagada Range Officer, probe underway

Chandan Gamang, the Range Officer of Kalyansinghpur in Odisha’s Rayagada district, tragically lost his life in a road accident near Rampur under Kolnara block on Friday.

Car Collides with Tree

The fatal accident occurred while Chandan Gamang was travelling from Kalyansinghpur towards Rayagada in his private vehicle. According to preliminary reports, the car lost control and rammed into a roadside tree with considerable force, leaving the officer critically injured. 

Locals and passersby rushed to the spot and alerted emergency services. He was immediately shifted to the Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Despite the best efforts of the doctors, Chandan Gamang succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Saturday, hospital sources confirmed. His sudden demise has cast a pall of gloom over the Forest Department, where he was known as a dedicated and sincere officer. 

Colleagues recalled his commitment towards forest protection and wildlife conservation, especially in the ecologically sensitive regions under his jurisdiction.

District Mourns Loss

The tragic incident has also left residents of Kalyansinghpur and surrounding areas deeply saddened, with many expressing their condolences to the bereaved family. Senior district officials and representatives from the Forest Department have conveyed their sympathies and assured all possible support to the family during this difficult time.

Meanwhile, local authorities have initiated a review to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Factors such as road conditions, vehicle speed, and visibility are being examined as part of the inquiry.
