A tragic road accident claimed two lives while five others were rendered critical after a car they were travelling in was hit by a speeding truck on the National Highway near Nandigram in Andhra Pradesh.
The tragic incident occurred while the family from Odisha was travelling to seek medical treatment in Srikakulam district on Sunday.
Victims Identified
The family involved in the accident belongs to Patisunapur village under Chikiti block of Ganjam district in Odisha. They were taking a paralytic patient for medical treatment when the mishap occurred on the busy National Highway. The impact of the collision proved fatal for two occupants of the car.
The deceased have been identified as the paralytic patient, Baleya, and his sister-in-law, Mohanam. Both succumbed to their injuries on the spot.

Five Seriously Injured
Five other family members sustained critical injuries in the accident. Among the injured is Baleya’s wife. All the injured were immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Doctors have described their condition as serious.
The incident highlights the dangers faced by families travelling long distances on highways for medical care, particularly under emergency circumstances. As the injured continue to receive treatment, the village of Patisunapur mourns the tragic loss of two lives.
Authorities are expected to conduct an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the fatal collision.
