Three students went missing from a girls’ hostel of a school in the Govindpur police station area of Sambalpur on Sunday. This prompted a search operation and investigation by local police.
According to reports, two students of Class 9 and one student of Class 10 went missing from the hostel premises. The incident came to light after the hostel warden filed a complaint, following which Govindpur police initiated an investigation into the matter. No information regarding the whereabouts of the students was found at the time of reporting.
Search Expanded
According to reports, the students went missing around 5:30 pm on Sunday. During the course of the investigation, Govindpur police reportedly examined CCTV footage from the surrounding areas in an effort to trace their movement. Police also extended the search to bus stands and railway stations, considering the possibility of travel outside the locality. However, no clues were found at the time of reporting.
Guardians Raise Concerns Over Safety
After being informed, the guardians of the missing students reached the Govindpur police station and held talks with the school authorities. They raised questions regarding the absence of information on the whereabouts of the girls and expressed concern over the security measures in place inside the hostel and school premises.
It is being alleged that the school authorities and hostel in-charge were negligent and failed to notice when or how the students left the premises. The incident has led to concerns among parents and locals regarding monitoring systems and hostel safety protocols in residential educational institutions.
Meanwhile, a Police investigation is underway to trace the missing students.
Students Rescued
According to the latest reports from police sources, the three girls were rescued from Kuchinda. The students were staying at a Government Tribal Hostel, from where they had gone missing.
Govindpur police had reportedly informed all other police stations as part of the search operation. Under the supervision of the BDO, a police team from Govindpur carried out the rescue operation and conducted raids at various locations.
As per police sources, the three students were rescued from Kuchinda at around 9:00 am on Monday. However, the girls were yet to be interrogated at the time of reporting.
Reports stated that the three girls, along with a woman, will be questioned and will be produced before the CWC, where their statements will be recorded.
Hostel authorities alleged that the girls had left the premises of their own accord. However, the police had not issued any official statement regarding this claim at the time of reporting.
