Three motorcycle riders were killed in a tragic road accident in Bhubaneswar after a sand-laden Hyva truck hit their vehicle at Anantapur under the Pahala police station limits late on Friday night.
According to preliminary reports, the identities of the three deceased riders have not yet been established. The driver of the Hyva truck allegedly fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Accident Occurred Around 12:30 AM
The accident took place at around 12:30 am. Police said the sand-laden Hyva truck first hit the motorcycle from behind and then ran over the riders, resulting in their instant death at the spot.
After receiving information about the incident, personnel from Pahala police station rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them to Capital Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Probe Underway, Identity Yet to Be Established
Police are currently trying to ascertain the identity of the deceased with the help of the motorcycle’s registration number. Initial suspicion suggests that the motorcycle involved in the accident might have been stolen.
Authorities are also attempting to contact the owner of the Hyva truck. Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation with assistance from locals and by examining CCTV footage from nearby areas.
Questions have also been raised about how three individuals were travelling on a single motorcycle at the time of the accident. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
