Three critical, over 30 injured as bus plunges off bridge in Odisha's Sundargarh

Three passengers were critically injured, and more than 30 others sustained injuries after a passenger bus fell off a bridge near Singhijuba in Binika, Sundargarh.

Three passengers were critically injured, and more than 30 others sustained injuries after a passenger bus fell off a bridge near Singhijuba in Binika, Sundargarh, in the early hours of Tuesday. The accident occurred when the bus reportedly lost balance and plunged down from the bridge. All the injured were initially admitted to the Binika Community Health Centre.

The bus was travelling from Bhubaneswar to Diptipur in Bargarh via Binika when it met with the accident at Singhijuba. According to reports, there were nearly 50 passengers on board at the time of the incident.

According to reports, out of the injured passengers, 20 reportedly sustained injuries. Those with severe injuries were later shifted to VIMSAR, Burla. At the time of reporting, several passengers were still present at the accident location as rescue operations continued.

Sonepur SP Narayan Nayak, police personnel and local authorities rushed to the site soon after the accident and carried out rescue operations, reportedly. They ensured immediate medical attention and hospital transfer for the injured passengers.

Rescue and Medical Treatment Underway

One of the medical personnel present at the site said, “There were nearly five individuals who sustained critical injuries, out of which three were shifted to the hospital for medical attention. People with minor injuries are being treated here.”
