Political temperatures have risen in Bhadrak after three block chairpersons resigned from the BJD on the same day. The development has intensified speculation about their possible entry into the BJP, especially after Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal dropped a strong hint on the matter.
Samal revealed that a few days ago, the block chairpersons had met him and expressed the intention to quit the BJD. He also stated that rivers ultimately merge with the sea and the BJP has reached this position by uniting people.
He further stated that they don’t break any party and those who want to join BJP are welcome. Anyone who can be an asset to the party is being included.

On Saturday, Bant block chairman Manoranjan Ghadei, Bhadrak block chairperson Urmila Nayak, and Bhandaripokhari block chairperson Sumati Sethi resigned from the BJD, each citing personal reasons. Their simultaneous resignations from the party’s primary membership have triggered intense discussions in the district’s political circles.
With the BJP president’s reaction adding fuel to the speculation, the possibility of all three leaders joining the saffron party has become a major topic of discussion in Bhadrak’s political landscape.
"They had come to meet me and expressed desire that they are not interested to be in BJD. We are making our organisation by adding people. Anyone who can be an asset to the party is being included," said Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal.
