Three arrested in Bargarh murder case linked to ‘love dispute’

Bargarh Town Police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder of Chandan Kumar Rout, whose body was found on January 3 in the Ghulipali area of Bargarh district. The incident, reportedly stemming from a love-related dispute, has sent shockwaves through the local community. All three accused have been produced in court following their arrest.

Body Found Outside Temple

According to police, the body of Chandan Rout, son of Sarat Kumar Rout of Bandutikra village, was discovered lying in front of a Hanuman Temple. Subsequently, his father lodged a complaint alleging that his son had been murdered by unknown persons. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and launched an in-depth investigation.

Bargarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Padarabinda Tripathy said, “Sarat Kumar Rout filed a complaint stating that his son, Chandan Rout, had been murdered by unknown persons. His body was found lying in front of the Hanuman Temple. During the course of investigation, three accused, Sumit Suna, Suman Urma and Abhishek Patra, were arrested in connection with the case.”

Three Accused in Custody

Police have seized a knife, a mobile phone and a car, all believed to have been used in the commission of the crime. SDPO Tripathy said that further investigation is underway to ascertain all circumstances surrounding the murder and to determine whether more individuals were involved.

The police have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could aid the investigation. Authorities said the arrests were aimed at ensuring justice for the victim and providing closure to the bereaved family, while efforts continue to uncover all aspects of the case.
