There’s nothing in Odisha, healthcare too is in doldrums: BJD MP Pramila Bisoyi

Bhubaneswar/Ganjam: When Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced an SHG worker Pramila Bisoyi as the BJD candidate from the Aska LS constituency, hardly did anyone think that the same 70-year-old grassroots-level worker would open up about problems plaguing the region in particular and state in general, that’s been under her party’s governance since 19 years.

After taking oath of duty in Parliament on Monday, the Aska MP had a candid talk with OTV when she said that Odisha is still far behind in development parameters and the healthcare service in Aska is in doldrums.

On being asked about her next step as an MP and vision for Odisha, the BJD MP candidly said, "There is nothing in our region, in Odisha. I will raise voice (in Lok Sabha) to help the poor women and farmers in our State."

Further exposing the BJD's much touted 'Odisha shining under Naveen' slogan, Pramila said, "The healthcare facility in Aska is in a shambles. We are getting no medical facilities. There are no doctors and for tests, we have to go to Berhampur. I will first work towards improving the Aska hospital." It’s important to mention that Aska is the place that served as the take off point for CM Naveen when he took a plunge into politics 2 decades ago.

Bisoyi’s no-holds-barred statements to this media house also included her plans ahead. Apart from improving healthcare system she intends to work towards women's empowerment in her region. She also said she has bigger responsibilities now as an MP and would raise many issues in the Parliament for betterment of Odisha.
