Panic gripped locals on Tankapani Road in the capital city of Bhubaneswar on Friday evening after a Thar car parked near Sai Temple suddenly caught fire. The luxury SUV, which was reportedly parked on the roadside, went up in flames within moments, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle was stationary and unoccupied when the fire broke out. People in the vicinity noticed smoke emanating from the car and immediately alerted the authorities.
Soon after, a team from the Fire Services Department rushed to the spot and managed to douse the flames before the fire could spread to nearby vehicles or properties.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. However, the Thar was severely damaged, with the interior and front portions completely gutted. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, though preliminary suspicions point to a possible short circuit.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the mishap. The incident has raised concerns among vehicle owners about the increasing cases of fire-related accidents in parked cars, highlighting the need for regular maintenance and safety checks.
Locals appreciated the swift action of the fire brigade, which prevented a potential disaster in the densely populated area.
