In an unfortunate turn of events, a tense situation erupted at the Maternal and Child Hospital on Saturday in Titilagarh following the death of a two-year-old child. The child, son of Bhubane Sahu of Deheli village under Muribahal police station limits, was initially taken to the Sindekhela hospital after his health turned critical.

As his condition deteriorated further, doctors referred him to a healthcare facility in Titilagarh for advanced treatment. However, within an hour of admission, the child succumbed.

Parents Allege Negligence, Question Delay

The grieving parents alleged that their child was stable before treatment but died soon after medical procedures were carried out. They questioned why the child’s body was not handed over to them even after more than 17 hours of the death, leading to anger and distress.

Police Step In to Control Situation

Following the unrest, Sindekela and Titilagarh police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The police also made efforts to calm the agitated family members and restore order within the hospital campus.

Cause of Death Yet to Be Confirmed

The exact cause of the child’s death remains unknown. Officials stated that clarity would emerge only after the post-mortem examination. The child’s body has been shifted to the post-mortem ward for the procedure.

The tragic incident has left the family shattered and raised serious concerns over medical response and communication. As the police probe continues and post-mortem results are awaited, the incident underscores the importance of transparency and sensitivity in handling emergencies.
