Tension at Puri Srimandir over barricaded darshan arrangements

A tense situation unfolded inside the Puri Srimandir yesterday following a dispute over barricaded darshan arrangements. The disagreement escalated rapidly, leading to incidents of pushing and jostling within the temple premises.

The clash reportedly involved members of the Srimandir Special Security Force, temple servitors, JTP personnel and commanders. The situation became particularly serious near the Satapahacha area, where the barricades became the focal point of the dispute, creating an unfortunate atmosphere inside the sacred premises.

High-Level Meeting Convened

In response to the incident, the Srimandir administration convened an important meeting at its office under the chairmanship of the Chief Administrator, Arabinda Padhee. The meeting is being attended by the Puri Superintendent of Police, the District Collector and senior officials of the Special Security Force to review the situation.

The developments have raised concerns over crowd management and coordination within the temple, with the administration now deliberating measures to prevent such incidents and ensure smooth darshan arrangements in the future.
