Tarang Cine Productions’ acclaimed Odia biopic ‘Pade Akasha’ gets special screening at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar

A special screening of Tarang Cine Productions' Odia biopic film ‘Pade Akasha’ was organised at the Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Centre in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, concluding with applause and praise from the audience.

The event was organised by the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities on the advice of the Chief Secretary. Notably, the film highlights the state government’s focus on social inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities. 

Film Rooted In Real-Life Inspiration

Produced by Tarang Cine Productions and directed by noted filmmaker Susant Mani, ‘Pade Akasha’ is based on the inspirational life of Dr Sruti Mohapatra, a Nari Shakti Puraskar awardee and founder of the disability rights organisation ‘Swabhiman’.

Pade Akasha draws from Dr Mohapatra’s life story, tracing her transformation from a civil services aspirant to a leading voice for disability rights after a life-altering accident left her paralysed from the neck down.

Despite physical challenges and social barriers, she went on to pursue higher education and has mentored over a hundred civil service aspirants, many of whom now serve in key administrative positions.

The biopic chronicles her personal and professional journey and narrates themes of resilience, dignity and inclusive development.

Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary R. Santhagopalan, Dr Sruti Mohapatra, and Tarang Cine Productions’ Chief Executive Producer Debidutta Mohanty were felicitated during the programme in recognition of their contributions to social empowerment and meaningful cinema.

Archita Sahu As Lead

The film features acclaimed Ollywood actor Archita Sahu in the lead role, whose portrayal of Dr Mohapatra has been widely appreciated for its emotional depth and authenticity.

Since its release in April, the film has received a strong audience response across Odisha, emerging as a word-of-mouth success for its compelling narrative and socially relevant message.
