A man was found dead outside the accommodation facility of an explosive manufacturing unit under the Saintala block in Bolangir district on Sunday morning. The deceased, identified as D Balakrishna, had arrived at the Badamal ordnance factory with a consignment of raw materials before checking into a room for the night.
Sources reported that Balakrishna was engaged as a worker at a different unit and hailed from Tamil Nadu.
Raw Material Consignment Brought To Badamal
According to preliminary information, Balakrishna was employed at an explosive unit in Aruvankadu in Tamil Nadu. He had reportedly travelled to the Badamal explosive manufacturing facility on Saturday, carrying a load of raw explosive material.
After unloading the consignment at the factory, he reportedly proceeded to ‘Preeti Bhavan,’ a staff accommodation building located near the unit. Sources said he rented a room in the same building for an overnight stay following the delivery. The consignment had been handed over to the unit before he moved to the accommodation.
Body Found In Front Of Staff Accommodation
On Sunday morning, local residents noticed the body lying in front of the building and alerted the Badamal police outpost. Police teams reached the spot, conducted an inquest at the location and recovered the body for post-mortem.
Police said they are verifying the timeline between the unloading of the raw material and his movement to the accommodation building.
Cause Of Death Not Known
Police stated that the cause of death has not been established and will depend on the post-mortem examination. Statements are being recorded from workers and individuals linked to the unit and the accommodation facility.
As of the last reports, police are examining movement details, the entry and stay records at Preeti Bhavan, and other procedural information related to his arrival. The body has been sent for autopsy, and an investigation by the Badamal police is in progress.
