Taiwan devotee performs Odissi dance at Puri Srimandir’s Singhadwar, draws applause

In a heartfelt expression of devotion, a woman from Taiwan performed Odissi dance in front of the Singhadwar of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, offering her recital to Lord Jagannath and drawing admiration from onlookers.

The devotee, identified as Lin Pei Chung, presented the classical dance form in traditional Odissi attire at the Singhadwar, performing before Patitapabana as an offering to the presiding deity. Her devotional performance attracted the attention of devotees gathered at the temple premises, many of whom watched with interest and expressed joy after witnessing the recital.

Devotional Offering at Srikhetra

Lin Pei Chung had travelled to Srikhetra to offer prayers to Lord Jagannath. Speaking about her spiritual connection, she said, “Every day I pray to Lord Jagannath. When I see Him, all my sufferings go away.” She became emotional and folded her hands while sharing her experience before the sibling deities.

She further spoke about her association with Odissi dance, saying, “We know that Lord Jagannath loves Odissi. I learnt this dance form and performed it here as an offering to Him. In this dance form, the body and mind become one, which we dedicate to the Lord. This is my second visit to Jagannath Dham. Lord Jagannath is very merciful.”
