Serious allegations of bribery have emerged against the jailer at the Sonepur Sub-Jail after a sting operation allegedly exposed corrupt practices inside the prison premises. The incident that occurred on Wednesday has raised concerns about integrity and accountability within the correctional system in Odisha.

According to the allegations, a person approached Jailer Panda Babu to get bail bond papers signed for a relative lodged inside the jail. It is claimed that the jailer demanded and accepted hundreds of rupees in return for signing the bail bond documents.

A purported video of the alleged sting operation shows Rs 500 currency note being handed over to facilitate the signing of the bail bond papers. The footage further reveals that the concerned individual is seen negotiating the deal after accepting the money. It is also alleged that extra money was demanded as part of the transaction, indicating a pattern of bribery rather than a one-time incident.
