Speeding van rams into e-auto in Bhubaneswar, 4 injured

Four persons were injured after a speeding traveller van rammed into a battery-operated e-auto in Bhubaneswar’s Badagada area on Friday morning.

The accident occurred around 9.10 am on the main road near Brit Colony under the jurisdiction of Badagada police station. According to eyewitnesses, the traveller van was moving at high speed when it collided head-on with the e-auto, severely damaging the vehicle.

The impact of the crash was so intense that the e-auto driver was reportedly thrown onto the road. A few roadside shops were also affected in the incident, triggering panic in the area.

Locals alleged that the traveller van driver was in an inebriated condition at the time of the accident. However, police have not yet confirmed the claim.

All four injured persons were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition is stated to be stable.

CCTV footage and preliminary information suggest that there were no passengers inside the traveller van at the time of the mishap.

The Badagada police have detained the van driver for questioning and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Further details are awaited.
