A late-night chain collision caused by a speeding car left at least four people seriously injured at Jagamara Square under Khandagiri police limits in Bhubaneswar on Thursday night, police said.

Incident Details

According to officials, the mishap occurred when a car, allegedly being driven at high speed, rammed into multiple vehicles at the busy Jagamara Square. The impact led to a series of collisions, creating panic among commuters and local residents in the area.

Preliminary reports suggest that the driver of the car was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. After causing the accidents, the driver reportedly fled the spot, abandoning the vehicle.

Victims Hospitalised

More than four people sustained serious injuries in the collisions and were rushed to Capital Hospital for treatment. Hospital sources said the injured are undergoing medical care, and their condition is currently stable.

Police Investigation Underway

The Khandagiri police have launched an investigation into the incident. Officers are examining CCTV footage from nearby establishments to identify the driver and reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the crash.

Safety Concerns Raised

The incident has once again raised concerns over reckless driving and drunk driving during late-night hours in the city. Police have urged motorists to strictly follow traffic rules, maintain speed limits, and refrain from driving under the influence to avoid such incidents.

Further investigation is ongoing, and police said action will be taken once the accused driver is identified and apprehended.
