Sonepur Collector withdraws financial powers of Tarbha BDO over misconduct allegations

The District Collector of Sonepur has withdrawn the financial powers of Gangaram Budek, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Tarbha block, following multiple complaints regarding his conduct and administrative functioning.

The action was taken after allegations surfaced that the BDO had misbehaved with elected public representatives and staff members of the block. He has also been directed to proceed on leave with immediate effect.

Deputy Collector Satya Sundar Routray has been posted in his place on deputation to oversee the functioning of the block administration.

Allegations of Administrative Irregularities

According to official sources, several complaints had been received against the BDO on multiple occasions. The allegations included stalling of block development work, incomplete maintenance of case records, and non-payment for completed projects.

It was also alleged that members of the public and government employees faced difficulties due to his functioning.

Sonepur District Collector Nruparaj Sahu said, “We had received several complaints against him on multiple occasions. Allegations included block development work being halted, incomplete case records, and non-payment for completed projects. People and employees faced issues.”

He further stated, “There was also an allegation that he had thrown a file at a person’s face and had disrespected elected representatives.”

Administrative Arrangements Made

In view of the seriousness of the complaints, the district administration decided to withdraw the BDO’s financial powers and place him on leave. The deputation of Deputy Collector Satya Sundar Routray is aimed at ensuring continuity in administrative work and preventing disruption to development activities in the block.
