Skeletal remains were discovered inside the toilet of an abandoned section of Bhainsa Primary Health Centre under Patnagarh police limits in Odisha's Bolangir district on Sunday. The unusual find has triggered a police investigation to ascertain the origin of the remains.
According to reports, the skeletons were recovered from an old, unused urinal on the former premises of the health centre. Following the discovery, police and a forensic team reached the spot and collected samples for examination to determine whether the remains are of human origin, possibly those of a child.
A doctor associated with the health centre stated that the remains appear to be human skeletons, and further forensic analysis will confirm the identity and cause of death. Police have initiated an inquiry into how the skeletal remains ended up at the site.
Old Facility Left Abandoned
Following the construction of a new building, all medical operations of the Bhainsa Primary Health Centre were shifted to the new premises, leaving the old campus unused for a long time. No activity has taken place there since, and the area has reportedly remained neglected.
Locals Inform Authorities
The discovery came to light when locals noticed the remains and alerted hospital authorities, who in turn informed the police. Officers from Patnagarh police station have launched a detailed inquiry into the incident.
Cause Yet to Be Determined
Though the origin of the remains remains unclear, local residents have raised suspicions of possible foul play. Investigators are now working to determine how the skeleton ended up inside the abandoned toilet and whether the case has any criminal links.
