Six-year-old dies after choking on balloon found inside chips packet in Khordha Photograph: (OTV)
In a heartbreaking incident, a six-year-old child reportedly lost his life after choking on a balloon found inside a packet of chips in Khordha on Friday.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred at Nidhipur village under Begunia block in the district.
The deceased has been identified as Tapas Kumar Paikaray, the son of Abhaya Paikaray.
According to reports, after consuming the chips, Tapas found a balloon inside the packet. While he was trying to inflate the balloon with his mouth, it burst. As a result, a piece of the balloon got lodged in his throat. This led to severe breathing difficulties, and the child became critically ill.
Tapas was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital in a serious condition. However, tragically, the doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

A similar unfortunate incident was recently reported in Bolangir, where an eight-year-old child suffered serious injuries due to the explosion of a toy that came out of a chips packet.
These incidents have raised serious concerns about the safety of packaged snacks and toys marketed to children, highlighting the need for stricter quality control and supervision to prevent such tragedies.
