Police officials said investigations have established a connection between the overbridge crash and the murder case, prompting intensified probing into the sequence of events and the roles of those involved.

Victim Had Come to Meet Girlfriend

According to police sources, the car that plunged from the Sishu Bhawan Square overbridge was registered in the Brahmagiri area and was being driven by Satyabrata Pradhan, a resident of the same locality.

Investigators said Satyabrata had travelled to Bhubaneswar to meet his girlfriend, who works at a beauty parlour in the Chandrasekharpur area. During the visit, it is alleged that the woman attacked Satyabrata, slitting his throat and causing fatal injuries.

Accused Woman and Associate Detained

Police have detained the accused woman, identified as Liza Bhoi, a native of Jagatsinghpur district, for questioning. Another man, Dinesh Kandi, also from Jagatsinghpur, has been named in the case.

According to police, Liza and Dinesh were in a live-in relationship and were residing together in Bhubaneswar. Satyabrata’s family alleged that Liza had maintained relationships with multiple individuals and had promised marriage to Satyabrata.

Upon learning about her live-in relationship and whereabouts, Satyabrata reportedly went to confront her. Police sources said both Liza and Dinesh allegedly assaulted him and slit his throat.

Attack Captured on CCTV

Investigators revealed that the alleged attack was captured on a CCTV camera installed outside the residence where the incident occurred. Multiple eyewitnesses were reportedly present at the spot, and their statements are being recorded.

After sustaining serious injuries, Satyabrata allegedly ran onto the road seeking help, but later succumbed to his injuries. Locals alerted the police after finding him in an injured condition.

Car Owner’s Role Under Scanner

Meanwhile, police suspect that the following information about Satyabrata’s death, the owner of the car rushed to Bhubaneswar along with another driver to retrieve the vehicle. Investigators believe that while attempting to flee the city, the vehicle was driven at high speed and crashed through a barricade at Sishu Bhawan Square, plunging onto an asbestos roof below the flyover.

Police later detained both the car owner and the driver at the Capital Police Station for questioning. Officials are examining how the car owner became aware of the murder so quickly and whether he had any prior association with the accused.

Family Questioned, Probe Continues

Satyabrata’s family members reached Chandrasekharpur Police Station and were questioned regarding his relationship with Liza and whether she was known to other family members. At the time of reporting, Satyabrata’s body was kept at Capital Hospital, with several relatives present.
