Designed to serve critical sectors such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, and smart grid systems, the project involves an investment of Rs 2,067 crore. The initiative is expected to generate around 1,000 direct jobs while creating a substantial number of indirect employment opportunities through ancillary industries and service networks.

SiCSem’s first semiconductor unit, RIR Power Electronics Ltd, is already under construction at the park and is set to become the country’s first silicon carbide manufacturing facility with a total investment of Rs 620 crore.

Odisha’s Semiconductor Push

Earlier this year, the Odisha government secured investment intents worth Rs 2,655 crore, including a Rs 1,005 crore PCB manufacturing facility by TopTrack Hi-Tech PCB Pvt Ltd and a Rs 1,650 crore semiconductor-related facility by Sancode Technologies Limited.

The state’s Semiconductor Manufacturing & Fabless Policy 2025 and Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy 2025 have been highlighted as drivers for building a strong electronics ecosystem, attracting both domestic and international investors.

Odisha’s rising semiconductor profile has also been bolstered by Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw presenting three chips developed in the state to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Semicon India 2025 event.

These developments, along with recent approvals of four semiconductor projects worth Rs 4,594 crore across India, including two in Odisha, signal the state’s rapid emergence as a strategic centre for semiconductor manufacturing and electronics innovation.
