Severe frost conditions continued for the fourth consecutive day in Koida area of Sundargarh district, as prolonged cold weather disrupted normal life across the region. Night-time dew froze into ice due to sustained low temperatures, with the mercury remaining below 5 degrees Celsius for two successive nights, leading to widespread frost formation.
Several parts of the Koida region witnessed intense frost, with the entire town appearing draped in a white layer during the early morning hours. Open fields, roadsides and residential areas were visibly affected. The highest intensity of frost within the Koida block was reported from New Garden Colony. Similar conditions prevailed in other areas, including Koida, Kalta, Malda and Tensa.
Across Sundargarh district, severe frost was reported from multiple locations. Agricultural fields were among the worst affected, with grass completely freezing and hardening due to the prolonged cold spell. In some areas, the frost remained visible well into the morning hours.
Impact on Daily Life

Residents reported difficulty in carrying out routine chores, especially during early morning and late night hours. Outdoor work was significantly affected, adding to the hardships of people living in less sheltered areas.
