Several injured as two student groups clash at Ravenshaw University in Cuttack

Tension gripped Ravenshaw University in Odisha's Cuttack on Friday after a violent clash broke out between two groups of students on campus, leaving several injured.

The altercation reportedly took place between students of the East Hostel and the New Hostel, prompting immediate deployment of police personnel both inside and around the university campus.

Altercation During Sports Event

Sources suggest that the conflict began earlier in the day during a sports event, where the two student groups were involved in a heated argument. While the situation seemed to subside momentarily, tensions resurfaced later in the evening, escalating into a violent confrontation.

During the clash, members of both groups were allegedly seen attacking each other with bamboo sticks and other items, resulting in injuries on both sides.

Police Deployment and Investigation

In response to the violence, police were quickly deployed to the campus, particularly around the East Hostel and New Hostel areas, to prevent further escalation. Senior police officials, including the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC), arrived at the scene and initiated an inquiry into the incident.

At the time of reporting, the exact cause of the clash had not been confirmed. Police are investigating the matter to determine the underlying reasons behind the violent altercation.
