Sectoral capacity building crucial for Viksit Bharat 2047: Baijayant Panda

Under the chairmanship of BJP National Vice President and Kendrapara MP Baijayant 'Jay' Panda, the Committee on Public Undertakings (CoPU) created parliamentary history on Thursday by presenting 11 reports in a single day.

Extending sincere thanks to all the members of the Committee on Public Undertakings for their utmost seriousness and dedication, Panda said that to fulfil the aim of building a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047, our capacities across many such sectors must be strengthened.

"All the members have worked together with utmost seriousness and dedication. Their hard work has enabled us to complete a record number of reports-two to three times more than earlier. This is a positive development, as it helps ensure that backlogs are minimised," said Baijayant 'Jay' Panda.

"Over the past one to one-and-a-half years, we have focused on sectors that had not been studied for a long time, especially strategic areas such as minerals and nuclear power. In line with our targets for nuclear power, public sector companies are expanding their capacities. With the government’s policy changes, the private sector will also participate, as we have set very ambitious goals," he further said.

"If we aim to build a Viksit Bharat by 2047, we must strengthen our capacities across many such sectors. I extend my sincere thanks to all the members for their efforts in the Committee on Public Undertakings. This progress is the result of collective cooperation, and this is how it should be. The importance of committees is truly reflected through such dedicated teamwork," he added.

Notably, the Committee on Public Undertakings has surpassed its previous record of eight reports during the 2024–25 session. It reflects the 18th CoPU’s intensified focus on strengthening accountability and transparency in public sector management.
