Pattern of Organised Theft Emerges

As per the police investigation, a technically organised gang is suspected to be behind the theft. Police said six similar incidents have been recorded over the past year, notably in Puri. The gang is believed to be from outside the state and is known to attend weddings in traditional, stylish attire. They operate in phases, arriving individually rather than in groups, and target moments when people are distracted.

Police Begin Investigation

Following the incident, the bride’s family lodged a complaint with Nayapalli Police. Police have initiated an investigation and are examining CCTV footage to identify the accused.

The incident has raised questions about public awareness and vigilance during large social gatherings, with police urging people to remain cautious and ensure the safety of valuables even amid celebrations.
