The dramatic love story of Pooja alias Sejal, the young woman who returned from America to reunite with her partner Amar in Odisha, has taken a serious turn with fresh revelations emerging during police counselling.
According to sources, Amar had allegedly demanded Rs 1 crore from Puja’s adoptive parents in the United States. This information reportedly came to light during a counselling session held after Pooja returned to Odisha.
Investigators say Amar had even shared his aunt’s bank account details to facilitate the transfer of the money from America. However, the motive behind seeking such a large amount remains unclear. Police are now probing whether financial pressure, external influence or any other factor is involved.
The Sahadevkhunta Police have detained Amar for questioning and have seized his mobile phone for further examination. Officials believe the device may contain crucial evidence regarding communication, financial transactions or conversations related to the alleged demand.

Meanwhile, Pooja is currently staying at the Nari Shakti Home in Balasore. Earlier, videos of her claiming that her adoptive parents forced her to “change her religion” had gone viral. However, after reaching Odisha, she retracted those allegations, stating she had behaved improperly with her parents and was compelled to make such claims only to return to India and stay with Amar.
On Friday, Amar arrived at the Nari Shakti Home to meet her, but police intervention prevented a private interaction. Amar’s grandfather, however, denied any knowledge of the alleged financial demand.
“They were in a relationship but never told us anything. I don’t know anything about the money—ask them. They made us sit in the verandah and talked inside a room. This looks pre-planned,” he alleged.
