Rourkela, the steel city of Odisha will finally get the much-awaited ‘Mo Bus’ service. The good news comes ahead of FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023.

Mo Bus service will be rolled in the Ispat Nagar by the last week of next month, informed Subhankar Mohapatra, Smart City CEO, Rourkela. The bus service will kick off with a fleet of 100 buses on a pilot basis.

Speaking to media, Mohapatra said, “The CRUT had floated tender for Mo Bus service in Rourkela. The operator has already been finalized. They will roll out buses phase by phase. The bus service will roll out phase wise and we hope at least 100 buses will provide service by the end of December. The Mo Bus service will surely be a success in Rourkela.”

This apart, regular flight services will commence from Rourkela ahead of the mega Hockey World Cup. Elaborate security arrangements are being made and the Rourkela district administration is leaving no stones unturned to make the mega event a successful one.

On the other hand, the Astroturf and floodlight facilities in Birsa Munda Stadium have been completed. The construction work of rooms for the stay of players and other participating staff will be completed by the end of this month.

The Hockey World Cup will be played in Kalinga Stadium and Birsa Munda Stadium in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela respectively from January 13 to 29. 16 teams will compete with each other in the prestigious world tournament. 24 matches will be played in Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar while another 20 matches will be held in Birsa Munda Stadium in Rourkela.
