Tension prevailed in Odisha after a small charter aircraft force-landed near the Jalda area of Rourkela, leaving six people injured. The incident occurred around 10 kilometres from Rourkela while the aircraft was travelling from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela.
According to officials, the injured include four passengers and two crew members. Among the passengers were two men and two women. The aircraft involved was a nine-seater charter plane.

Airlift Option If Needed
Rourkela Superintendent of Police Nitesh Wadhwani stated that if further medical treatment is required, the injured may be airlifted to higher medical centres. Emergency services responded promptly following the incident.
“Of the six injured, two are pilots and four are passengers. All of them are currently under observation and their condition is stable. They are being kept under close medical monitoring, and we are hopeful of their recovery. Adequate treatment has been provided to the injured. At the site of the incident, the perimeter has been secured and forces have been deployed. The exact cause of the aircraft mishap will be known after a proper investigation,” said Sundargarh Collector Subhankar Mohapatra.
Forced Landing, Not Crash
Clarifying the nature of the incident, Bhubaneswar Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan said the aircraft did not crash but made a forced landing. He added that the forced landing took place nearly 15 minutes before the aircraft was scheduled to land at Rourkela airport.
“A specialised investigation team will conduct the aircraft incident probe. The team will examine the equipment to identify any technical issues or faults. Experts will assess the situation in detail. The administration and the state government have assured full support to the injured persons, and arrangements for airlifting have also been kept ready,” said Rourkela SP Nitesh Wadhwani.
Situation Under Control
Officials confirmed that the situation is under control and further details are being assessed. The timely response by emergency teams helped prevent serious casualties, as investigations continue to determine the exact cause of the forced landing.
