A report on the recent violence in Malkangiri was submitted to Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Friday.
As per reports, Deputy Chief Minister K. V. Singh Deo, along with Minister Gokulananda Mallik, handed over the report. Both ministers had visited Malkangiri earlier to review the situation on the ground.
As per sources, tension had escalated in the district after the beheading of a landowner over a sharecropping dispute. The conflict had erupted between two villages - MV-26 and Rakhalguda. Following the incident, the administration undertook several measures at various levels to restore peace in the area.
Earlier, K. V. Singh Deo had reached ground zero and held an extensive discussion with both sides involved in the conflict. He engaged with residents of MV-26 and Rakhalguda to chart a pathway of consensus and ensure long-term peace between the two groups.

Southern Revenue Divisional Commissioner had also visited the affected area to assess the situation firsthand. Accompanied by the district Collector and senior police officials, the RDC interacted with villagers of MV-26 and reviewed the law-and-order scenario.
According to the preliminary assessment, property damage worth Rs 3.4 crore has been reported in the arson incident linked to the unrest in the district. The government has formed four teams to assess the damage to the affected houses. Blankets have already been distributed to the villagers, and additional cooking materials will be provided to them tomorrow.
