Repeated traffic violations: 258 vehicles blacklisted for repeated traffic violations in Cuttack & Bhubaneswar

The Commissionerate Police has urged all vehicle owners to adhere to traffic rules, clear pending challans promptly, and cooperate with authorities.

In a major move to strengthen road discipline and curb habitual traffic violations, the Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar–Cuttack on Thursday initiated stringent action against vehicle owners who have repeatedly violated traffic rules and failed to clear their pending fines.

According to an official press note issued by the Commissionerate Police, as many as 258 habitual offenders have been identified in the first phase. A formal communication has been sent to the State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha, requesting the cancellation of Registration Certificates (RCs) and Fitness Certificates of the vehicles involved.

Acting on the request, the State Transport Authority, Cuttack, has directed all Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) across the state to blacklist such vehicles and initiate action for RC and Fitness Certificate cancellation, particularly in cases where multiple violations have been recorded.

Officials said this step is part of a broader effort to ensure compliance with traffic norms and deter habitual offenders who endanger public safety. Strict enforcement measures will continue against violators in the coming days.
