 What began as reckless fun proved costly for a group of youths after they were found performing dangerous car stunts on a public road in Sambalpur district. Burla police seized two vehicles and detained the drivers along with their associates for endangering public safety.

According to police sources, the youths were driving in a highly dangerous manner on the South Dyke road of the Hirakud Dam. In blatant violation of traffic norms, some of them were seen sitting on the roofs of moving cars, while others struck film-style poses during the stunts. Visuals also showed a few youths smoking cigarettes while the vehicles were in motion.

The cars were reportedly driven at times in straight lines and at other times in a zigzag manner, creating serious risk and inconvenience for other commuters on the busy stretch. The reckless driving caused panic among road users and posed a significant threat to life and property.

Videos of the dangerous stunts went viral on social media, drawing sharp criticism from the public. Acting on the viral footage, Burla police launched an investigation, identified the vehicles involved, and seized the two cars. The drivers and their accomplices were subsequently detained for questioning.

Police officials said strict action would be taken against those involved in accordance with the law. They also warned that dangerous stunts on public roads would not be tolerated and urged youths to refrain from reckless driving that could lead to fatal accidents.
