Bhubaneswar: The State government is likely to increase the rate of milk sold by Odisha State Co-operative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (OMFED) in the coming days, informs State Agriculture Minister Arun Sahoo.

Speaking on the sidelines of a workshop on dairy farmers here on Tuesday, Sahoo said that basing on the demand of the dairy farmers and people's interest, the government is considering an increase in the rate of Omfed milk.

He further said that a rate suitable for both the consumers and the dairy farmers will be fixed by the government.

It is worth mentioning that the government has not modified the rate of Omfed milk since 2014, while such private companies have already increased the rate of milk to Rs 44 per litre.
