With Matric and Plus 2 examinations set to begin next week, the Odisha government has intensified preparations to ensure smooth and disciplined conduct of the tests. The Plus Two examinations will commence on February 18, followed by the Matric examinations from February 19.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg reviewed the preparedness and issued clear instructions to the concerned authorities, warning that any irregularity or negligence in examination management would invite strict action. She directed all officials to strictly adhere to the examination management guidelines, stating that violations would be dealt with under the Odisha Examination Management Act, 1988, and the BNSS.
Focus on Preventing Leaks and Malpractice
Preventing question paper leaks and copying remains a major challenge this year. To address this, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond said QR codes and watermarks will be used on question papers, while AI cameras will be installed at question hubs and examination centres.
"Students prepare sincerely for their examinations, only to later find that question papers have gone leaked. These things are happening only for money. Such incidents are happening repeatedly in the state board examinations. If the system becomes truly secure, it will be a positive sign for the future,” said Dipansu Patra, a Matric student.

Large Number of Candidates
Over 4.16 lakh students will appear for Plus Two exams across 1,357 centres, while more than 5.61 lakh candidates will take Matric and related examinations at 3,082 centres statewide.
“When question papers get leaked, the matter is often suppressed. We will urge the government to hold district-level officers accountable and give responsibilities in every district, ensuring that question papers are not leaked again and that examinations are conducted smoothly inside examination halls,” said educationist Raghunath Panda.
With enhanced monitoring, technology-driven measures and strict enforcement, the government aims to ensure fair examinations and timely declaration of results, reassuring students and parents ahead of these crucial tests.
