The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Saturday reduced the parking fee for four-wheelers at its four Bhakta Nivas in Puri.

Earlier, a decision to charge Rs 500 per day for parking had drawn strong public criticism. Following the development, the management committee revised the fee and fixed it at Rs 240 per day.

However, the Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Arabinda Padhee clarified that only devotees staying at Bhakta Nivas will be allowed to park their vehicles within the premises.

"It was earlier decided to charge Rs 500 for parking four-wheelers at the four Bhakta Nivas in Puri. However, there were some reactions over the decision. Following the development, it has been decided in the management committee meeting that Rs 240 will be charged for parking for four-wheelers at Bhakta Nivas," said SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee.

Earlier, Padhee had stated that rooms at Bhakta Nivas are being provided to pilgrims at affordable rates. Many devotees visiting from outside do not arrive in four-wheelers. However, those who bring four-wheeled vehicles will have to pay a parking fee of Rs 500 per day.
