A large-scale demonstration was held in front of the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) office in Odisha's Bhubaneswar, alleging injustice against LTR candidates, on Thursday. Parents joined the job aspirants in the protest, demanding the release of the merit list for Sanskrit candidates.
While the merit lists for LTR recruitment in PCM, CBZ, PET, Urdu, and Telugu have already been published, the Sanskrit merit list is yet to be released, reportedly without any stated reason.
As per reports, the delay sparked widespread anger among aspirants, who questioned why the OSSC was allegedly playing with their future. Both aspirants and their parents sought clarity from the Commission regarding the reasons behind the delay.
Several protestors were seen kneeling down and holding their ears as a symbolic gesture of protest. Police personnel were deployed outside the OSSC office to manage the situation as hundreds of aspirants gathered and expressed their frustration.
Recruitment Process Stalled
According to reports, the government had issued a notification for the recruitment of 729 candidates. The examination was held in May 2025, followed by document verification on October 22. Thursday was scheduled for candidates to select their preferred districts by 5 pm.
However, due to the non-release of the Sanskrit merit list, candidates expressed uncertainty about their chances of moving forward in the recruitment process.
Earlier Protest Over DV List
The recruitment process is reportedly set to be conducted next month. One of the aspirants alleged that while the document verification lists for all other subjects had been released earlier, Sanskrit candidates were left out. Following a previous protest, the document verification list for Sanskrit was finally released on October 4.
