Private university student in Bhubaneswar forced to drink sewage, threatened to kill self for refusing drugs; probe begins

A serious allegation has emerged from a private management university located on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, where a student has accused fellow classmates and senior students of assaulting him after he opposed drug consumption on campus.

The student’s family filed a complaint at Pipili police station, leading to the registration of a case and the initiation of a formal investigation, police confirmed.

Alleged Attack After Refusing To Take Drugs

According to the allegations, the victim objected to students openly consuming drugs inside the classroom. The complaint stated that some classmates and senior students allegedly forced him to take drugs and, upon his refusal, physically assaulted him.

The student claimed that the attack was “mortal in nature,” alleging brutal beating and threats to his life. He has further alleged that money was demanded from him, and he was repeatedly being pressured to consume narcotics.

Claims Of Being Forced To Drink Toilet Water

The student also mentioned in the complaint that he was forced into a toilet and made to drink sewage. He stated that the accused recorded the incident and has since been using the footage to humiliate him and threaten further action. The student alleged that he is being “harassed, threatened, and humiliated,” and stopped attending university out of fear.

He stated that the same group has threatened that “either I take my own life or they will kill me.”

Blackmail Allegations

In his grievance, the student linked the present assault to an incident when his classmate’s girlfriend once took him to a senior on the pretext of having a meal, but he found students consuming drugs there.

“The girlfriend of my classmate once took me to a senior on the pretext of having a meal. They were instead doing drugs there. They forced me, but I refused. Fearing I would leak this information, they are now harassing me and threatening that I give them money or they would claim that I harassed the girl,” he alleged.

Police Confirm Complaint And Investigation

Pipili IIC Soumendu Tripathy confirmed the details of the complaint and stated that a case has been registered.

“His classmate, a senior, and two other persons assaulted him. He was mentally and physically tortured. They also demanded money from him. The student has also alleged that they forced him to do drugs,” he said.

Tripathy further noted that the incident took place on November 24, and a probe will be initiated in this connection. He added that the student will be sent for medical examination, and subsequent investigation steps will follow.
