President of India Droupadi Murmu, who is on a six-day visit to Odisha, visited Jajpur on Tuesday, where she offered prayers at the revered Maa Biraja Temple.
The President also performed 'pinda dana' rituals at Navi Gaya, a site of significant religious importance. During her visit to the Biraja Temple, President Murmu spent more than an hour and a half, participating in special worship and religious ceremonies.
Following her visit to Jajpur, the President proceeded to Balasore, where she attended the 12th convocation ceremony of Fakir Mohan University. On the occasion, she inaugurated a newly constructed auditorium on the university campus. She also unveiled the statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, paying tribute to his legacy.
During the convocation ceremony, President Murmu awarded gold medals to 15 PhD scholars who were recognised as gold medallists for their academic excellence. Addressing the gathering, she congratulated the graduating students and encouraged them to contribute meaningfully to society and nation-building.
After completing her engagements in Balasore, the President is scheduled to proceed to Puri as part of her ongoing Odisha tour.
In view of the President’s visit, elaborate security arrangements have been put in place across all locations to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme.
