Bhubaneswar: Chhattisgarh Police on Wednesday took ex-MLA from Odisha, Anup Sai on a three-day remand to elicit more information related to the 2016 double murder case. Sai's driver, Burdhan Toppo has also been taken on a 1-day remand.

Both Sai and Toppo were earlier arrested by the cops of the neighbouring state for their alleged involvement in the crime. Meanwhile, the cops have reportedly received permission to conduct a narco test of the ex-MLA.

"We will interrogate him for the next few days based on the new evidence we have found. We suspect one more person's involvement and use of another vehicle in the crime," said Raigarh SP, Santosh Singh.

He further informed that notices has been issued to the owners of the two vehicles that were allegedly used to execute the crime.

According to police, Sai and his driver were allegedly involved in the brutal murder of Kalpana Das and her minor daughter near Hamirpur forest in Chhattisgarh.

The cops have already identified the SUV used in the murder and its efforts are on to seize the same. As per reports, notices have already been served to Sai’s family to bring the vehicles registered in Sai’s name to Chakradharnagar Police Station in Chhattisgarh.

Moreover, the cops are trying to collect more details on the relationship between Sai and deceased Kalpana and how many times they travelled outside Odisha together. In this connection, a team recently met the director of Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar.

Earlier, SP Singh had said that Sai along with his driver Burdhan killed Kalpana and her daughter with a blunt iron-rod like object and disposed their bodies. They also allegedly made all attempts to ensure that the bodies could not be identified by crushing them under an SUV multiple times, said Singh.
