A specialised NDPS financial investigation has begun in Odisha’s Kandhamal district to curb the flow of black money generated through ganja cultivation and smuggling. As part of the crackdown, police carried out a major economic raid on Friday at Tilakpada village under Sadar police station, targeting the residence and roadside eatery of an alleged ganja mafia member.

Large Team Conducts Raid Under SP’s Supervision

The enforcement operation was conducted under the supervision of Kandhamal SP Harisha B.C., with support from a substantial police force. Officials from the district administration and technical departments, including the Additional Tehsildar of Phulbani, an Assistant Engineer and a Junior Engineer of the PWD, also participated in the raid.

During the search, police recovered several lakhs of rupees in cash and a significant quantity of gold ornaments from the premises linked to the accused, who already has two NDPS cases registered against him and is currently lodged in jail.

‘Part of a Structured Crackdown on Illegal Earnings’

Speaking on the ongoing action, SP Harisha B.C. said the raid was part of a broader initiative to dismantle the financial backbone of the illegal ganja trade.

“We are taking sustained steps to curb ganja distribution. As part of our NDPS financial investigation, a search was conducted at the residence of the accused, who faces two cases and is presently in judicial custody. The search process is underway, and further details will be shared upon completion. This is part of a structured financial probe to dismantle the illegal earnings accrued through the trade,” the SP stated.
