In Basudevpur, police detained 19 individuals on Sunday, suspecting them to be Bangladeshi nationals in Odisha’s Bhadrak district. The operations were conducted in Bhairabpur and Guagadia localities under Basudevpur police limits.

According to official sources, the individuals will be subjected to verification procedures to confirm their nationality. The raids were part of ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to ensure proper documentation and curb illegal immigration in the region.
Authorities have not yet provided additional details regarding the identities or backgrounds of the detainees. The police have assured that the verification process will be carried out according to legal protocols, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.
Earlier, 25 suspected people were detained and investigated, and today again, raids were conducted in Bhairabpur and Guagadia under the leadership of IIC Lopamudra Nayak. At the two locations, suspected people are being interrogated, and various identity documents are being checked. The police are verifying where they live, how long they have been here, their occupation, Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, land records, etc.
Local cops are also asking people to bring house documents along with their identity proofs to the police station. More documents will be verified tomorrow.
It is said that, in the Basudevpur coastal area, several Bangladeshis have settled and are availing various government schemes. Last Tuesday night, Basudevpur police had picked up eight suspected people and sent them to Bhadrak SP for identity verification.
On Wednesday night, Basudevpur police had raided two rented houses in two villages on suspicion of housing Bangladeshis. Police interrogated around 17 suspected people and checked their various identity documents.
However, no comments were received from the local police in this regard.
