Social activist Basanta Patra said, “It is surprising that the local and district administrations were unaware of the construction near the waterbody. We approached the Chief Secretary, as well as the Forest and Revenue Department Secretaries, and informed them about the matter. Following this, they directed the District Collector to inspect, verify, and take strict action.”

Officials and Landowner Respond

Responding to the allegations, the landowner clarified that the construction was lawful and taking place on land with a valid patta. He said the property had been purchased by his family during the time of the former king and that construction began only after the High Court ruled in their favour. He added that they were ready to cooperate with any administrative inquiry.
