According to Port Chairman P. L Harichandan, the feat highlights how the port’s operational efficiency and strategic management continue to strengthen its position in India’s maritime sector and beyond.

Fastest Achievement in Paradip Port’s History

This is the quickest timeframe in which the port has ever reached this figure. This accomplishment marks the ninth consecutive year that Paradip Port has successfully crossed the 100 MMT milestone, solidifying its reputation as one of India’s most efficient and high-performing ports.

Challenges in Global Markets

Despite a 30% decline in international demand for iron ore and a noticeable drop in thermal coal requirements, Paradip Port surpassed last year’s performance by achieving the 100 MMT mark 12 days earlier.

"We have crossed the 100 million metric tonne cargo-handling mark, and it is a significant record. Since Paradip Port began operations in 1967, in these 58 years we have never achieved this 100 million metric tonnes milestone. This is the first time we have achieved this milestone," said P.L. Harichandan, Chairman, Paradip Port Authority.

Strengthening India’s Maritime Momentum

The port’s ability to overcome market slowdowns demonstrates its increasing capability to handle diverse cargo, enhance productivity, and support India’s growing trade ecosystem.

Conclusion

Paradip Port’s latest achievement stands as a testament to its operational excellence and resilience. As it continues to break records year after year, the port remains a key pillar in India’s maritime growth story, setting new benchmarks for the future.
