Cooperative Minister Pradeep Balsamant on Wednesday informed that the mandis will be opened from December 25 for the procurement of paddy.
The authorities are fully prepared to procure paddy from the registered farmers. Millers have been assigned the responsibility of clearing the godowns to ensure smooth operations, he informed.
The paddy cultivation has increased this year as compared to the previous year, reflecting a higher yield for farmers. The government has assured that paddy will be procured from all those who have registered, leaving no farmer unattended.
Model Mandis To Modernise Procurement Process
Reportedly, to modernise the procurement process, tenders have been issued for 32 model mandis, with an expenditure of Rs 300 crore. These model mandis are equipped to handle large-scale transactions efficiently and improve the overall procurement experience for farmers.
The government has set a target to set up a total of 100 model mandis within the next two years, further strengthening the state’s agricultural infrastructure, said Balsamant.
The minister emphasised that the administration is committed to ensuring a hassle-free procurement process, supporting farmers, and maintaining transparency in the system.
With the mandis opening soon, authorities are coordinating all necessary arrangements to facilitate timely purchases and smooth operations across the state, the minister said, adding that the authorities are doing everything possible to ensure that farmers do not face any problem.
