Bolangir: Despite a lot of awareness on caste-prejudices, a woman had to pay a heavy price for marrying outside her caste in Odisha. The woman even had to perform the last rites of her father as the villagers had allegedly ostracised the family and refused to help.

The shocking incident has been reported from Ghuna village in Bolangir district. According to reports, the woman, Pramila decided to perform the last rites of her father after villagers fearing social boycott didn’t come forward to help her.

What is more shocking is the fact that the last rites of Pramila’s father Bali Selma was conducted three days after his death. Sources said Pramila’s father Bali, who was suffering from prolonged illness, died on December 31, 2019.

Meanwhile, the district administration officials could not be contacted over the incident.
